Australian eCommerce sales top $15bn for the year just past: though it is slowing quickly
The numbers are in and if you read the info-graphic below, not much to say:
- eCommerce in Australia is growing and as usual, faster than traditional retail.
- Middle-aged buyers are the biggest buyers by far.
- Domestic sales are three-quarter of all sales.
- Department and variety stores are the biggest eCommerce category.
- Group-buying websites are down.
Dig a bit further however and you'll see that the rate of eCommerce growth is declining rapidly... the numbers are way down. And this, it is predicted, is in-line with a very recent and worrying decline in consumer sentiment. Thank the recent Australian budget for that and a few other factors.
