The email 'Subject Line' sweetspot

A really quick blog this morning because the money is in the detail.

According to research undertaken by ShowMeLeads (a small, marketing automation company), email subject lines with between six and ten words have the highest average open-rate at 21%.

Five or fewer words, the open rate drops in line with the drop in words: 16%. And it is even worse for subject lines with 11 or more words: 14%.

The research goes on to suggest that shorter email lines might be better suited for mobile.

I dunno. There are a trillion studies into email and subject lines and I guess if email is your thing, here is another to mull over and test.

All I know is that I want less email!
