This week we have seen two interesting advancements in the concept of same-day delivery.

Firstly, eBay launched the ‘eBay Now’ app. An app that lets users purchase items and receive them on the same day.

Sounds incredible? Too good to be true?

It is a little. It’s only available in San Francisco at the moment as it needs a delivery service that can support it/p>

Interestingly though, the United States Postal Service has now come out and said it plans to trial same-day delivery as well. Hopefully, this will lead to a rapid expansion of areas covered by this service.

The USA is roughly the same size as Australia, however it’s got a substantially bigger population to support and fund same-day delivery.

Will same-day delivery it come to Australia?

It’s already here. Companies like The Iconic already support 3 hour delivery in Sydney. The concept of same-day delivery is becoming more and more viable. As it becomes more than a fanciful dream and more of a reality, ecommerce web sites will eventually be characterised by those who have same-day delivery and those who don’t.

Is your company ready?
