Who just overtook Yahoo! to be the 4th largest driver of web traffic?

I’m a big fan of Pinterest.

I think it is going places, with some potentially incredible applications in eCommerce.

Whilst it is true that it doesn’t make a red cent and has no idea (or plans) to do so, that it is a different issue for a different blog.

Anyway, it seems that I am not alone in liking Pinterest. According to an article in TechCrunch, Pinterest has well and truly overtaken Yahoo! to become the fourth largest driver of web traffic in the world.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

Ahead of Pinterest is Facebook, ‘Direct’ traffic and then in first position, Google.

And it is work pointing out that where Pinterest controlled 1.84% of visits on the web in August, Facebook is 5.90% and Google is a staggering 41.28%, albeit that Google has dropped somewhat from the beginning of the year where it held 48.90% share. Facebook has dipped slightly also.

Well done Pinterest.
